Love for computers; an acquired taste?
|
|
I did not always love computers.
I began learning how to type on a 101 computer keyboard in about the fourth grade. I can recall my fustration as I routinely had to sit before an Apple
2GS typing a letter(s) and words over and over again.
For a time I had to learn typing. I do not believe I topped ten words a minute on the way to fifth grade. However, I resolved to stay away from computers
for as long as I could.
I do not exactly remember how I got back in to computers. But it seemed like a new concept after a few years of avoiding it. My mind took in many concepts
of a computer, the internet, and CD-ROMS.
Was it too early for me to learn computers in the fourth grade? Was I too young to appreciate its importance? Or did computers got drastically more user
friendly and easier to use? Maybe some of all, but I am certain of this.
Today, after nine years, I not only do research and typing on the computer, but programs, html(this website), music, movies, poetry, and more are products
from the use of my all purpose tool.

Poetry, a natural friend
Writing poetry began at a fairly early age for me. Inspired by a trip taken in elementary school, I decided to put together some lines that rhymed to describe
my experience. After that initial poem, I did not continue until I reached high-school.
In high-school, I had quite a few friends. But even so, none could compare to poetry. I turned back to writing poems pouring all my emotions and thoughts
in to them.
What exactly is poetry?
Wel, poetry to everyone is a different concept.
- 1. It can be lines that end in rhyming words.
- 2. It can rhyme with every second, third, or however many lines.
- 3. Or it doesn't even have to rhyme at all!
To me, poetry is like an egg. Written down in words, it is bottled up and ready to be released. Like an egg, there is no telling what one may get after
the egg is hatched. Just as not everyone knows how the next person will interpret the same poem.
Taking feelings and emotions, thoughts and images, and packaging them in to words carefully chosen and formed on paper is an art. An art that I use to release
to readers the experience and relations of life. Many times my poems will cary multi-meanings, giving them an extra demension that may satisfy various
conditions and situations. If you would like to read some of my poetry, you may do so by goin to

Music, an art in all things
Whether on the radio, on television, or on your computer, there is some form of music. Music can be as simple as banging on a glass cup in a rhymatic fashion,
or as complex as a large marching band. Music is constantly in my everyday life.
I began playing the keyboard in elementary school, but have never had an opportunity to obtain professional lessons. Thus, all my years I have played by
ear and copied many songs in order to learn how to play them. Other than a brief 2hour teaching by my distant uncle, I developed most of my skill through
constant banging of the electric keyboard. Mind you I am not as good as one who have had a couple of years in training, but I'm satisfied with my progress.
